CommitmentI enjoy my work in the helping profession and have always wanted to help others, dating back to elementary school when I was a conflict manager for my peers. I understand having the need to speak with someone, to get support in difficult situations, to be encouraged during times of struggle, and to be celebrated in moments of victory. My compassion does not come because I have an estimate of what it is like to be where you are, I actually do understand. Someone was there to help me and I want to be able to pay that forward and help others. Life is filled with peaks and valleys. I want to help people look to the mountain top when they are in the valley, as a reminder of what is being worked towards. I am encouraged by my clients as I watch their progress and growth. This fuels my inspiration to continue the work that I do.

ExperienceAt the age of 20, I first began my journey in the helping profession working with at risk youth. I attended the University of Bridgeport, where I received my Bachelors in Psychology and Human Services, my Masters in Counseling, and my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut. I have worked with a number of different populations throughout the years including adolescents, those suffering from addictions, severe mental health issues, adults, groups, parenting, couples, and families.

CompassionMy belief on counseling is a simple one; to work myself out of a job. My perspective of counseling is to help my clients get to a place of balance so that they are able to maintain a healthy, stable, and safe lifestyle. I do this by entering into a teamwork mindset with her clients. The road of self-empowerment that brings individuals to counseling is not one that is taken alone once someone has decided to engage in services with me. As your counselor I am here to provide guidance, support, encouragement, and techniques to help you along the way. I do this by using different theories and methodologies of counseling. I primarily do this by using techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Counseling (CBT). Together, we will explore how your thoughts create certain feelings in you, which then result in how you act (your behavior). There will be homework involved to help you implement or practice what we discussed during sessions. I like to incorporate humor in my session, when appropriate, coupled with compassion.
